Junior Cricket at Abingdon Vale

We provide opportunities for boys and girls, aged 5+ to play cricket in a fun and friendly environment. We are proud that many of our current senior members have played youth cricket at Abingdon Vale and we hope this continues in future years. Details of our Junior Cricket winter training sessions can be found further down this page under the respective age-group teams.

Kit & Equipment

  • All junior (u-11 and u-13) training and playing teamwear can be ordered at our ‘TrySports’ junior club shop.

  • Juniors under 18 years of age can buy kit from the clubs official kit provider from the Gentleman & Players website

  • The club have a small selection of equipment however we recommend that players provide their own protective equipment.

All Stars - Children from ages 5 to 8

A fun and active way to introduce your child to cricket and learn the new skills, All Stars cricket is organised by the ECB and further details of our sessions can be found below:

Did you know… parents and guardians can get involved and play cricket with their children too? It's a great way to spend time with your child and create memories that will last a lifetime. Parent activators (helpers) will support the fully accredited lead Activator in delivering the sessions, supporting and encouraging children as they learn new skills. It's completely optional and you do not need to be a cricket expert to be involved.

Dynamos - Children from ages 8 to 11

A perfect introduction to cricket for new players and also suitable as a natural follow-on from All Stars, Dynamos is a softball cricket program organised by the ECB and further details of our sessions can be found below:

  • When:  Saturday mornings from May to June - Exact dates to be confirmed.

  • Time:  09.15 - 10.30 

  • Coaches: Amith Premkumar (Mixed) & Emma Bell (Girls Only)

Please note that these session will be split between mixed participation and Girls Only.

Under 11 - (School Years 5-6)

We have two teams into the Oxfordshire leagues. We will enter an 8-a-side softball league (pairs format) and an 11 a-side hardball league for players to gain experience of competitive cricket.

Did you know… Players who are ready for 11-a-side hardball league cricket can be part of our Under 13’s team.

Did you know? From age 13 (school year 8), junior cricketers are eligible to be considered for selection for our senior sides in Saturday league cricket.


Under 15 - (School Years 9-10)

We run one team who play T20 cricket in the Oxfordshire league. and further details can be found below:

Training:

  • When:  Thursday evenings from May-June

  • Time:  6.15pm - 7.30pm

Matches:

Did you know? All u-15 players from our team in 2023 played at least one game senior sides in Saturday league cricket with two players making their debut for the 1st XI.


Under 17 - (School Years 11-13)

We have an Under 17 team who will play in the Oxfordshire league. Players are encouraged to train with the senior teams on Tuesday evenings and further details of their matches can be found below.

Matches:

  • When:  Monday evenings in July / August (after the Under 15 season has completed)

  • Time:  6pm - 8pm

  • Coach: Simon Mills

Junior Membership & Match Fees

Junior Membership for school Years 5 - 10 are as follows:

  • £60.00 per year for the first child from a family.

  • £50.00 per year for other siblings.

Match Fees for the 2025 season are as follows:

  • £3.00 per match

Please note that winter training sessions are not included in the above costs and the respective team coaches will be able to advise you on the payment details for this.
